Mount Kinabalu (Borneo)

Mt. Kinabalu (4095 m) is the highest mountain of Borneo and one of the highest in southeast Asia. Of volcanic origin, the summit region largely consists of bare rock, with vegetation confined to crevices and little gulleys. Because of the daily enveloping in clouds, this ever-wet environment is short in sunshine and, thus, cooler than other equatorial mountains such as Kilimanjaro. Also the rather isolated position contributes to a lower than "normal" tree limit (between 3600 and 3700 m).
