Mount Brewster (New Zealand)

It has been suggested that the sharp forest boundary formed by Nothofagus in New Zealand reflects the shelter requirements of tree seedlings. Introduced conifers such as Pinus contorta can grow up to 400 m above the Nothofagus treeline.
